Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque
Historic mosque at the Klang–Gombak confluence
History & background
Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque opened in 1909 under Sultan Sir Abdul Samad Ibni Almarhum Raja Abdullah. Designed by Arthur Benison Hubback — architect of many colonial landmarks — in Moorish style with three red domes and minarets.
Its site at the Klang–Gombak confluence symbolises the birth of Kuala Lumpur, where early settlers arrived. It served as the state mosque before the National Mosque was built.
Prayer times follow JAKIM zone WLY01. Masjid Jamek LRT and MRT stations sit right beside it — the easiest prayer stop in old KL city centre.
