India Mosque (Masjid India)
Historic mosque on Lebuh Ampang
History & background
India Mosque (Masjid Jamek India) was built in the 1870s to serve the Indian Muslim community settling around Lebuh Ampang — later known as Little India Kuala Lumpur. It remains among the active historic mosques in the old city centre.
Indo-Moorish design with a small minaret and green dome marks it as an early Islamic architectural landmark in KL. Though modest in size, it serves as a daily prayer hub for nearby residents and traders.
Prayer times follow JAKIM zone WLY01 — same as Jamek Mosque, National Mosque, and all of Kuala Lumpur. Worshippers from Chow Kit, Kampung Baru, and Brickfields share the same timetable.
