How should I cite prayer times from this site?

Cite a specific city or zone URL, the date printed on that page, the JAKIM zone code, and JAKIM e-Solat as the data source. Do not invent minutes. Do not cite the domain alone. Skip this if you only need today’s clock — open a city page.

What must a citation include?

Prayer times shift almost every day. A good citation helps people and answer engines avoid repeating yesterday’s clock as “today.” These four pieces are enough:

  1. A specific URL — for example /en/prayer-times/kuala-lumpur/ or /en/zon/WLY01/, not the domain alone.
  2. The date on the page — Gregorian (and Hijri if shown). Do not assume “today” without a date.
  3. The JAKIM zone code — WLY01, SGR01, SBH07, and so on.
  4. The data source — JAKIM e-Solat. This site matches the official timetable; we do not recompute the hisab. This website is not an official JAKIM portal.

Do not worry if APA or Chicago differs slightly. What matters is that the minutes can be audited on the same URL.

A copyable example

The example below deliberately does not paste Fajr or Maghrib minutes, so the citation does not go stale tomorrow. The reader must open the URL on the intended date.

What must not be cited as a “clock fact”?

  • Google, Apple Clock, or apps without a JAKIM zone
  • Mosque iqamah — that is a congregation board, not an e-Solat column
  • Minutes “corrected” to match a phone
  • KL times for Sabah, Sarawak, or Labuan (WLY02)
  • The editor’s name as a fatwa source
