How to pray — brief overview
Basic steps of obligatory prayer: intention, takbir, recitation, bowing, prostration, sitting, and salam — see i-Fiqh for full guidance.
Obligatory salah in brief (Shafi'i):
- Intention in the heart — knowing which prayer and for whom.
- Takbiratul ihram — Allahu Akbar, hands raised (sunnah).
- Standing — opening supplication (sunnah), al-Fatihah, short surah.
- Ruku' — bowing with stillness.
- Sujud — twice each rak'ah.
- Sitting — tashahhud, salam right and left.
Rak'ah count differs by time (Fajr 2, Dhuhr/Asr/Isha 4, Maghrib 3). For illustrations, recitations, and detailed pillars — use JAKIM i-Fiqh or a local mosque class. We do not reproduce full recitation text here.
