Zakat fitrah — brief overview

Zakat fitrah is due before Eid prayer — rates and payment methods are set by JAKIM/state zakat bodies yearly.

Zakat fitrah is obligatory for every Muslim — usually before the Eid al-Fitr prayer on 1 Shawwal. It purifies the fast and supports those in need.

In Malaysia, fitrah rates (local rice/wheat equivalent) are set by JAKIM and state zakat bodies each year. Payment is via mosques, LZS, or official state channels.

This is a summary only. For current rates, payment methods, and detailed rulings — visit islam.gov.my or your state zakat authority.
