Travel prayer — qasar and jamak
Travellers may shorten (qasar) and combine (jamak) prayers — distance and timing rules per Shafi'i i-Fiqh.
While travelling (beyond the sharia distance threshold), Muslims may:
- Qasar — shorten Dhuhr, Asr, Isha from 4 to 2 rak'ah
- Jamak — combine Dhuhr+Asr or Maghrib+Isha (early or delayed)
Minimum travel distance, in-flight prayer times, and qibla direction have specific rulings. JAKIM provides MyMuwaqqit guidance for travellers.
See JAKIM i-Fiqh and our Travel prayer times guide. Daily times still follow JAKIM zones or traveller guidelines.
