How prayer times are calculated in Malaysia
JAKIM sets prayer times using zone coordinates, astronomical methods, and the Shafi'i school — 59 zones covering all of Malaysia.
Malaysia's prayer times are calculated by JAKIM based on:
- Geographic coordinates of each zone (59 zones, 219 locations)
- Astronomical methods for fajr, sunrise, dhuhr, asr, maghrib, isha
- The Shafi'i school — e.g. Asr when shadow equals object length
- Imsak ~10 minutes before Fajr (Ramadan)
Data is updated yearly on e-Solat.gov.my. This site displays the same data for convenience — verify on e-Solat if needed.
