Common prayer time mistakes

Wrong zone, using Google without JAKIM check, mixing times from different states — avoid these mistakes.

Common mistakes when using prayer times:

  • Wrong zone — using KL (WLY01) in Sabah/Sarawak; each city has its own JAKIM zone
  • Google / generic apps — different calculation methods; for Malaysia, use JAKIM e-Solat
  • Mixing sources — Fajr from one app, Maghrib from another
  • Wrong date — times shift 1–2 minutes daily; check today's schedule
  • Imsak vs Fajr — during Ramadan, stop eating at imsak, not fajr
  • Asr — JAKIM uses Shafi'i method; Hanafi apps may show later Asr

Check your city zone on this site and verify on e-Solat if unsure.
