Hajj and umrah — brief overview
Hajj is once-in-a-lifetime obligation for those able; umrah is recommended — official arrangements via Tabung Haji Malaysia.
Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam — once in a lifetime for able adult Muslims who can afford it physically, financially, and safely. Performed during hajj season in Mecca, Mina, Arafah, and Muzdalifah.
Umrah is a recommended pilgrimage to Mecca — can be done year-round, shorter than hajj.
In Malaysia, registration and official arrangements are through Tabung Haji (Lembaga Tabung Haji). For manasik guides, visas, and schedules — see official Tabung Haji and JAKIM i-Fiqh, not full reproduced text here.
