What is qibla in JAKIM data?
Qibla is the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca. JAKIM includes a bearing (degrees from north) in zone data — for example WLY01 is about 292°. That is the official zone reference, not a Google Maps heading that can shift with map settings.
Use a compass, this site’s zone qibla page, or a mosque mihrab that is already marked. Do not worry if a phone differs by a degree or two; in the mosque, follow the congregation mihrab.
Is qibla the same all over Malaysia?
Not exactly. The peninsula, Sabah, and Sarawak differ by degrees because of geography. That is why each zone has its own bearing. Do not copy KL qibla to Tawau.
When do special rulings apply?
On aircraft, trains, or where direction is hard to fix, fiqh has concessions. That is not a timetable job. See i-Fiqh or JAKIM traveller guidance (MyMuwaqqit). Prayer times still follow the zone or traveller guidance — qibla and time are two different questions.
