Special prayers guide
Special prayers include eclipse, hajat, qunut (witr), and istisqa — timing and method differ from the five daily obligatory prayers.
Special prayers are voluntary or situational prayers outside the five daily fard prayers. Main examples:
- Eclipse prayer (khusuf/kusuf) — during solar or lunar eclipse; two rak'ah with extended recitation.
- Hajat prayer — two voluntary rak'ah when seeking goodness or facing hardship; no JAKIM-specific time — avoid disliked hours.
- Qunut — supplication in Witr (and qunut nazilah in certain situations); Malaysian practice follows Shafi'i.
- Istisqa — rain-seeking prayer, usually at the mosque.
Daily prayer times (Fajr–Isha) still follow your JAKIM zone. For detailed rulings, see JAKIM i-Fiqh or your state Mufti office.
