# Ramadan breaking time

> Breaking fast in Malaysia is Maghrib for your JAKIM zone — sunset on that date. Do not break fast at Google Maghrib if it is earlier. Skip this if you only need today's table.

## Is breaking time the same as Maghrib?

Yes. Maghrib begins at sunset for your zone, and that is breaking time. Mosque iqamah may be a few minutes later — that is for congregation, not a second Maghrib.

Use the same zone's monthly or imsakiyah page all Ramadan. Do not switch to a holiday-coast zone if you still live in your home city.

## Should I follow Google or JAKIM to break fast?

JAKIM. If Google shows Maghrib earlier, do not break fast before e-Solat Maghrib for your zone. Comparison: [Google vs JAKIM](/en/guides/google-vs-jakim/).

## Where is the official imsakiyah?

On your zone's monthly page here, and at e-solat.gov.my. Imsak is sahur; Maghrib is breaking time. Both shift almost every day.

Travellers between states must switch zones. Sabah/Sarawak is not WLY01. See [Sabah and Sarawak](/en/guides/sabah-sarawak/) and [hilal sighting](/en/guides/cerapan-hilal/).
